Bankruptcy Law/Tax Refund after filing Bankruptcy

Question
I have a question? Will I get my full tax refund? I filed Bankruptcy in 2006. Also do I need to add the legal fees for the Bankruptcy in my deductions on my tax form?

Answer
Hi Patricia.  You should ask your lawyer about the refund.  Each jurisdiction is different, and may depend on when you filed the case.  Talk with your preparer about the deductions available to you.  I am not aware of any specific bankruptcy deduction for taxes, but check with your preparer or tax advisor since the IRS Code changes all the time.
