Question I'm considering chapter 7 and I'm worried that a motorcycle I bought last year with a co-signer will be forced to be included because it is a recreational item, not a necessity. I will be asking to keep my car. Will my co-signer on the motorcycle be held liable or be affected at any time if the motorcycle is included and discharged in the Chapter 7?
Answer The co-signer is obligated on the debt regardless of whether or not you file bankruptcy. If the payments on the motorcycle are not made, then it will "affect" the cosigner. Whether your obligation on the debt is discharged or not has nothing to do with the cosigner's obligation.
