Bankruptcy Law/Cosigner's Bankruptcy Affecting MY Credit

Question
Mt dad co-signed on a car for me. He filed bankruptcy and nothing was said about him re-affirming on the car loan. I continued to make payments and the car was paid off. Now on my credit it says paid off/bad debt/discharged debt. It's affecting my credit score and my homeowner's insurance went up 102%. Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix this?

Answer
Cosigners are equally responsible for the debt. You can probably contact the credit bureau that is reporting this, write a letter, include his bankruptcy notice and explain that you did not file bankruptcy, and that the account is being mis-reported on your report.
