Question
do we have to file in the state our house is? we are military and moving. we will have enough money tofile in june.should we still pay as many bills as possible or should we stop paying so we can save and file sooner? we know we want to let our house go due to no eqity and we owe double what our 2006 suv is worth.

Answer
Generally, you file in the jurisdiction where you have resided for the last 91 days.  You should pay for debts that you want to keep-houses, cars etc. don't pay any other debts you want to discharge, except under court order.  Since you want to surrender the home, you can stop paying the mortgage too.
