Question
I would like to know if personal private student loans can be discharged in filing bankruptcy.  If not is there anything I would be able to do to lower my balances on my private student loans?

Thank you

Answer
Student loans are generally non-dischargeable in bankruptcy unless you can prove they are an undue hardship.  This is extremely hard to prove.  You have to show that you paid them when you could, you have no current ability to pay them anything, and have no future possibility of paying them anything.
