Question
Why do you need 4 years of tax returns when you file? I was not having trouble 4 years ago, not even 3 years ago.

Answer
The bankruptcy code requires it.   While there is no language on why, I speculate it is just to confirm facts in the bankruptcy petition...it would disclose business interests if any, rental income, so it helps to confirm that the bankruptcy petition is accurate and complete.
