Question
I am pregnant, uninsured, and unable to get any help from programs like Healthy Start or Medicare. It is almost certain that if I carry through with the pregnancy I will have to declare bankruptcy. My question is, if that happens, will my boyfriend, whom I am living with and is the father of the child, be liable for the medical bills anyway if I do? We currently reside in Ohio.

Answer
If you file bankruptcy it will not alter the obligations or liabilities of your boyfriend in any way.  I have no idea what Ohio law is regarding obligations of a father on medical bills.  In any event, this sounds like a family law question, not bankruptcy.  He may wish to consult with a family law attorney on the issues you raised.
