Question
Ex received judgement by default (another matter). Most of what he wanted are 1/2 the value of items we purchased or won. My question is, where it is not a debt and merely a monetary value he wants...is it dischargeable? thank you

Answer
If it is a debt owed to a former spouse as part of a domestic support obligation or incurred in the course of a divorce proceeding (such as attorneys fees or marital equalization payments) it is not dischargeable in a Chapter 7.   Part of it may be dischargeable in a Chapter 13 case.
