Question
QUESTION: My wife is listed as a creditor in a Illinois Bankruptcy case. I called the attorney that is handling the case for the debtor about a different matter  and he said he is filing a adversary complaint against me and hung up. Now what??

ANSWER: Wait until you are served with a copy of the summons and complaint and then review with a bankruptcy attorney in Illinois regarding your options.

QUESTION: I was hoping for an answer. I guess i didn't make myself clear. What should I expect to happen within the court system? Cant I just file an answer to the complaint? This case is a little funny. My wife worked for the debtor and the employer  bounced a few checks and never paid on any of them. its a personal bankruptcy with the business listed as an asset which owes my wife the money. The business is under contract to be sold by the end of the month and I'm not sure the courts are aware of any of this. The reason I contacted the lawyer ,  he has answer my questions in the past on the no compete contract my wife has with the business. Did I really break the law??

Answer
Well that's a bit more information, but there's still a lot missing.   Yes, you can file an Answer.  In fact, if you wish to defend the complaint, you MUST file an Answer.  Has the complaint been filed yet?  What is the basis of the complaint (i.e. what is being alleged).  I have no idea if you broke the law since I have absolutely no facts about what is being alleged that you did, much less what you actually did.  What chapter of bankruptcy was filed?
