Question
If I have to file bankruptcy (the kind where every dept is discharged), do I have to cash and turn over U.S. Savings Bonds I have that are 10 years old?  Are they considered a liquid asset?

Answer
They are an asset (it doesn't matter whether they are "liquid" or not).  Whether you have to turn them over depends on their value, the value of all other assets you have, and the exemptions available under applicable State Law when your case is filed.
