Question
My Name is Diane and I filed for bankrupcy in September 2005.  I appeared for my initial court hearing, and had a change of heart and did not want to go through with the Bankruptcy.  I asked my attorney to cancel it, he did that day petitioning for a dismissal and of course was approved. I checked my credit report and it says that my Bankruptcy was dismissed, and I don't understand why it is even there if the case was never heard by the court. I am planning to pay off all my bills can i do something about getting rid of that bankrupcy remark on my credit report

Answer
The fact that you filed will be on your credit report.  There is no changing that for 10 years.  Now, you may want to write the credit bureau a memo to place in your file for prospective lenders to read if they want.  But, since it was filed, it will stay on the report.
