Question
Would you say that the anti-christ is an actual person or a mind frame shared by many others in a state of confusion and unknowingly perverting the gospel of Christ????

Answer
Hi Connor,

In my opinion, based on scripture and more I am convinced (as are most Baptists though there is always debate on such topics) that the Antichrist will be an individual human being who will establish or take over global rule. In my opinion, the currently rising New World Order is that structure.

The Bible speaks of "antichrists" who have always been present and of the Son of Perdition, the Man of Sin, THE Antichrist who is yet to come.

What "an antichrist" or the "spirit of antichrist" is is defined in various ways. Essentially anyone who opposes "Christ" is an antichrist. However the prophets from both the Old and New Testaments make it abundantly clear that THE Antichrist will:

Be an individual human male
Be Jewish (at the least his mother will be Jewish)
Will be praised by the world as the Peace Bringer and as a great orator.
Will come from the EU (possibly from the Greek Isles but this is conjecture).
Will establish global peace and security.
Will conquer "three kings" in order to attain this goal.
Will be honored and eventually worship as God Incarnate.
Will have a High Priest (called THE False Prophet in the prophecies) who will arise from Rome (possibly the then sitting Pope but this is not certain)
Will rule a global empire based in Rome (ie Europa, ie the EU).
Will transfer his kingdom seat to Jerusalem.
Will sign a decisive peace treaty with Israel.
Will violate that peace treaty (known as "the abomination of desolation spoken of Daniel the Prophet" -- a reference to Dan 9 by Jesus.
Will be assassinated (probably as a direct result of this desecration of the Jerusalem Temple -- which will be re-built, probably as part of the Peace treaty -- probably with a wound to the head.
Be possessed by Lucifer as he is raised from the dead after 3 1/2 days, for his final 3 1/2 year reign.
Will seek to genocide all Jews throughout the world, beginning in Jerusalem, and all who support them.
Near the close of his seventh year after signing the treaty with Israel he will be simultaneously attacked by Russia, China and the united Muslim Ummah and others.
At that time Moshiach (Messiah) will come and conquer all the world powers in order to save the Jews from extinction.
The Moshiach will then establish a thousand year kingdom of God.

More than you actually asked but I thought the info might be helpful to you.

If you would like the scriptural references etc. just let me know what you would like to see supported from scripture.

At this point EVERY single prophecy that needs to be fulfilled prior to his coming has been. Expect some global catastrophe, perhaps including the fall of the United States, to rock the world resulting in his ascendancy as global ruler (the US is not mentioned in ANY biblical prophecy despite what some claim).

Biblically speaking, there is absolutely no question in my mind that the Antichrist (also known as the Man of Sin, the Son of Perdition, the Little Horn, the Dijal, the Rex Mundi etc) will be a specific human ruler who is not yet on the world scene, at least not in any major way.

Hope this helps,

Baptists hold certain unique understandings as well as the "fundamentals of the faith" held by most other denominations. Harmonious with the essential Baptist doctrine known as the Priesthood of all Believers, some Baptists are very conservative (such as Jerry Falwell and Fred Phelps) while others are quite liberal (such as Jesse Jackson and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr). For help understanding Baptist and other biblical issues, drop me a line. I can also shed light on questions that are often considered "sensitive." Ask me anything and I'll do my best to share what I know.

Experience

I have a lot of experience in this area. I've studied the Holy Scriptures for over 40 years. I hold a Missionary Baptist ordination as well as one from Calvary Chapel. I was a missionary in Central America for a while, an avid street minister and have preached in many churches, on the radio and so on. I also have an MA Religious Studies from JFK University as well as other pieces of paper. The only ordination that really matters comes from God of course.
While I am no longer a Baptist I can answer any question anyone is likely to have from a Baptist perspective.
My personal beliefs are now more accurately described as Messianic or Noahide Nazarene. If you are interested in this perspective just ask.

Organizations
My current beliefs are best described as Noahide Nazarene. These beliefs can be considered at my web site: http://allfaith.com/Religions/Noahide
