Question
Please forward me information on how to write a church resolution for a deceased member. The service for the decease church mother is tmorrow. We would appreciate the information asap. Thank you.

Dennis, I would love to be able to do so but such things are not practiced within my church.  We do what we call euologies and often get some input from the family about things they wish remembered in a special way at the funeral.  These are often impromptu speeches versus something formal as the resolutions in Black culture.

I just spoke with a Black pastor friend and he said that theirs are just a certificate that mentions when she was a member of the church and whatever ministries she was involved with and then a special message to the family from the church.  I'm thinking something like...

We, the members of XYZ Baptist Church extend our deepest sympathies to the church and are thankful for the work Sis ----- did for her Lord while with us.  She will be greatly missed but we are rejoicing for her as she is now with the one she loved and served.  We are confident that Jesus will bring healing to your heart and soul and strength for the days ahead until we shall all join her in the realms of glory.
