Where in the Bible does it state a pecking order of God, spouse, children church and work or is this just what we Christians take for granted?

I am not sure exactly what you are asking, so if I don't answer what you wanted, please clarify.

What I am guessing you mean is pecking order of life.

Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength."  then "Love your neighbor as yourself."

God should always be the most important thing in our lives.

Next, God gives us family.  In the family (Eph. 5:22-32), the husband is the head of the household.  Wives should submit to their husbands.  But husbands have a bigger responsibility, they are to love thier wives as much as Christ loves the church.  

Next, children are to submit to their parents. (Eph 6:1)

Next, I believe is our church family and neighbors.  Our jobs rank toward the bottom.  Although we are told in the Bible that we are to take care of our family, our society puts to much emphasis on our vocations.
