Baptists/Child out of wedlock

QuestionHi Pastor, I am a fairly religious person. I go to church every sunday, and say my prayers more than I count. I have accepted Christ into my heart, and have tried my best to live in His Word. However, I fear I have committed an unforgivable sin. I am twenty three years old and attend Temple University in Philadelphia. I had my first son about five months ago, and feel like this is too big a sin for God to forgive. I feel so guilty over it, but once I found out I was pregnant, what else was I supposed to do?! My pastor and I are very close, he came to my house after the baby and talked with me, but I had just given birth and wasn't emotionally "there" enough to ask these questions. Please help me!
AnswerHi Abigail,
Thanks for this great question. I am so sorry for this late response. When Jesus died on the cross, he BECAME all the sins you would ever commit. He knew about this sin. He was punished for this sin too.
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
The Devil would like you to think that you can lose your salvation, or that God cannot forgive you, but it is JESUS that died for you. There is no sin bigger than the price that He paid for it already!
Romans 8:31-35
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
The Apostle Paul killed Christians, but God forgave him. He was the chiefest of sinners, but he was allowed to write half of the New Testament. Your sin is not greater than Paul's, and Paul was forgiven.
1 Timothy 1:15
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
I hope that this helps you.
In Christ
