Baptists/Daniel 9 question
Expert: Cooper P. Abrams III - 6/20/2008
QuestionFirst off, I just want to thank you so very much for your commentary on the book of Daniel.
I have a real desire for knowing God and soaking up every possible bit of information I can about His Word. Lately I have had such a difficult time with this desire, though, because I don't know what to do with my passion. I don't know what to do to understand all the background and all the small, but important, details woven so carefully in the text. But your commentary has helped me understand this book more than I ever thought possible. God's Word never ceases to amaze me :)
And now for my question;
I was going strong and reading the Word and understanding everything, and then when I was searching some things I came across this website:
http://www.bci.org/prophecy-fulfilled/time.htm
It's written by Joel Smith, who is a member of the Baha'i Faith. I know that the article is long, but he explains everything in number terms that the exact date from in the Christian Bible, the Islamic religion, and the Zoroastrian religion predicted for when the Messiah will come again was in 1844 AD of the Christian calendar.
This is all to prove that the Messiah has come under a new name, that being Baha'u'llah.
And I am very confused :/
I hope that you can help clear this up for me, and I apologize for the long e-mail and the long website to follow.
I thank you so very much for your time.
God Bless! :)
AnswerHi Kendall,
I am glad you found the Commentary on Daniel helpful. The Baha'i religion is a cult of Islam and a false religion. God, our Creator said "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Matthew 24:36) Literally, thousands of people over the ages have used all kinds of numbering systems to predict when the Lord, our Messiah, Jesus Christ would return. They are all emphatically wrong and none of their predictions were correct. Only God the Father knows and he has not revealed this to any man. Islam, Zoroastrianism like all false religions deny the deity of Jesus Christ and of the inspiration of the Bible. They have in their religions what I call "bait" in the form of honorable intentions like living moral lives, etc. However, the deny God's truth, the principles of God's word, the Bible and thereby deceive millions of people. If Jesus has come, why is there not peace in the world? Why has not Daniel's 70th Week, the seven year Tribulation occurred as Revelation 4-19 reveals. Why has not the last kingdom Daniel predicted come on earth, a kingdom represented by the feet of the great beast of iron and clay.
Jesus Himself said, "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Matthew 24:4-5) The cult Jehovah's witnesses say Christ came in 1914. Some Jews believe that Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of New York City, who died in 1994 is the Messiah. Though the ages many have claimed to be the Messiah. However, they all are proved to be false and that means they lied and who is the father lies?
For more information on the Baha'a religion there is good and accurate information at

I am writing a commentary on the Book of Revelation and have completed through chapter 12. I will be posting it on my web site some time in the next month or so...as soon as I have it finished. The Bible teaches the Messiah, Jesus Christ will return at the end of the seven year Tribulation and that is still future to us. The next prophetic event in history will be the rapture, or taking away to heaven of all believers on earth. Then will come the seven year Tribulation followed by Jesus' Second Coming and then He sets us His 1000 year Kingdom, called the Millennium which if followed by Satan's final rebellion and then the New Heaven and Earth. (Rev. 4-22)
I hope this helps. I you have further question please write.
