Question
Hello, My name is Johnny W. and I am from Australia.

I am very interested in joining a secret society...

What I'd like to know is...is there anything wrong with joining Freemasons, or the Jesuits?

Does the Bible have anything to say about secret societies?

And, is it against the church, and what are your thoughts on these societies?

Answer
Hello Johnny,

Yes, Johnny, like any curious youth, you would like to know more and join the secret society. I am glad you were open and not secret about your desire. I would like to share my experience. I too got into something like this many years ago. But now when I look back I am so glad I stayed away from it. These societies are not what you would like to get in.

For Scripture very clearly says that, "whatsoever thing are true, whatsoever things are noble...Philippians 4:8 Think on those things, there is so much that the word to God has for us to dwell upon. Some of these societies seem to have everything except God in their dealings. They are not Biblical.

Yes some of these societies are not recognized by the Church. And the Church does discourage its members from joining any secret society for that matter. I would strongly discourage you from joining such secret societies. I will pray for you and wish  you dwell more on the Word of God, rather than be led by the deceiver.

Many years on I am glad I had made the right decision and I hope that you too will. God bless.
