Baptists/Spirit-filled Baptist

Question
Rev. Woods,

I recently read an answer you gave in response to a young man who was trying to discover which denomination to belong to.  I really appreciated your response.

The reason I found his question and your answer is that I have been seeking my own place in the church.  I am currently a Baptist pastor in West Texas, but I am also a Spirit-filled Believer in Jesus Christ.  I feel very out of place in my church and have been trying to figure out where I belong.  I believe in basic Baptist doctrine, but I cannot dismiss the gifts within me and the experiences my family and I have had.  I have been thinking about leaving the denomination to seek out a Bible based, Spirit-filled fellowship; because I have not seen this within the Baptist denomination.

It is refreshing to know that there are other "Baptist" who are Spirit-filled.  I hunger for fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ who share my same views.  Are there any websites, conferences, or avenues to help me connect with people who are like-minded?

In Christ,

David Jones

Answer
Blessings and thank you for your question.

It is good to hear from another "Spirit-filled" Baptists.  There are a whole lot more of us than the SBC wants to admit too.  However, I don't know of any Baptist organizations that join together like that.  I would advise you to look for a local network of spirit filled pastors and leaders to fellowship with.  I belong to AIM (Antioch International Ministries in PA).  I have only been in Louisville, KY for a few months now and haven't found a group here yet.

Over the years I have gone to many conferences.  I belong to the Elijah List which sends out conference information all the time.
