Baptists/Psychic Mediums

Question
A friend of mine recently sought advice from a psychic medium and was felt healed and helped by the information she received. I have considered meeting with the same psychic in order to get some insight as to whether I am following the correct path in life as I have been through some intense changes recently. I do, however, have concerns with doing so as Biblically I realise that seeking such advise is not acceptable. I need advice on whether to proceed with this reading.

Answer
Shani, thank you for your question. No, No, do not go to any psych medium as they are pure evil. Why would you go to a person to get a healing when all you have to do call on the Great Physician to do the healing.  A psych medium can no more heal a physical ailment than the computer you are now looking at can heal.
Even doctors do not heal either. God uses doctors to prescribe medications to help us, surgeons to repair our bodies, but still God does the healing. Doctors do not heal anything, but God does. Doctors only facilitate the healing process. which God designed,  with medications, surgeries, and treatments. So go to the Great Physician and not to some crack pot psych faker.
For example, you severely cut your leg and you go to the Emergency Room. The ER doctor sutures up your cut and writes a Rx for antibiotics for you to get filled. Soon as you cut yourself, the blood starts to bring red and white blood cells to the wound, they form a clot, the bleeding stops, then little fibrinogen-like cells (called cytoblasts) start to fill in the cut with fibrin, which starts the healing process. Did the doctor do these things inside your body? Of course not. God created the body, He created the blood that brought the white cells, He created the fibrinogen to stop the bleeding, and He created the fibrin that fills in the wound and you end up with a scar. But the ER doctor facilitated the healing process that God created in the body by suturing up the wound so you would not have such a large scar and gave you a RX  for an antibiotic medication to help fight any possible infections. God even created the blood and chemistry in the blood so that the body could use the antibiotic medication. The Doctor did not do this. God does the healing but the doctor only facilitates the natural healing of the body that God created. If doctors do not heal, then psychic mediums can not heal either. So God does the  healings and not psych mediums, which are evil to say the least.
Shani you stated “A friend of mine recently sought advice from a psychic medium and was felt healed and helped by the information she received.” Your friend was already psyched up for something to happen because she “sought advice from a psych medium.” Why did not she get on her knees and ask the Great Physician for healing of her problems?
And the psychic gave her information that your friend wanted hear, and she “felt healed and helped.” Psychics and soothsayers are con-artists and they tell you what you want to hear, and then stick out their hand and say “that will cost fifty dollars.” Did they heal your friend? Of course they did not, but they only told her what she wanted to hear in the first place, it cost her fifty dollars, and they made her think she was healed. This is a con game and it motivated by the devil and greed.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT CHANNELING, CONTACTING THE DEAD, MEDIUMS, AND FORTUNE-TELLING?
DO NOT BE DEFILED BY MEDIUMS OR SPIRITIST.
Lev. 19:31 states “'Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.” Medium in the Hebrew is owb which is referring to necromancer, one who evokes the dead. A spiritists is   yidd@`oniy which is one who speaks to spirits, soothsayers, fortune tellers but can include psych mediums. God is saying do not turn to or seek out one who calls up the dead, speaks to spirits, soothsayers, fortune tellers, and psych mediums. Shani, your friend “sought advice” which means she turned to such people which the bible says do not do. Why? Because you will be defiled by them. Defile  in the Hebrew is  tame'  which means become polluted, unclean, corrupt, or impure. So do not turn or seek necromancer, spiritists, fortune tellers, psychic mediums because your will be corrupted or polluted in your mind.
GOD DISLIKES MEDIUMS OR SPIRITIST AND HE DEALS WITH THEM
Lev. 20:27 states “'Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.'”  Here God is judging these mediums or spiritist and they should be put to death by stoning. Bloodguiltiness is dam  in Hebrew which means condemned by innocent blood. Their condemnation of innocent blood is upon them.
GOD JUDGES THE PEOPLE WHO GOES TO MEDIUMS AND SPIRITISTS
Lev. 20:6 states “'As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.” God is saying people who again turns to mediums and to spiritists are like prostitutes playing after them, and He will set His face against them and cut them off among his own people.
MEDIUMS, SPIRITISTS, SOCERERS, FALSE PROPHETS, WITCHCRAFT, INTREPRETERS OF OMENS, ONE WHO CASTS SPELLS, OR CALLS UP THE DEAD ARE DESTESTABLE TO GOD.
Deut. 18:10-12 states "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD.” God detests “anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire” refers to the debased worship of the Canaanite god Molech, to whom children were sacrificed by burning. People who worshiped Molech made a  big brass statue of Molech who had his arms out stretched, underneath the arms was a big round belly in which wood was placed and fire started. Worshipers of Molech would start a very hot fire and lay small children across the outstretched arms and burn their children up as sacrifice to Molech. Do we not do the same thing today? We chop our children up, or chemically burn them to death by putting salt on them in the womb, and call it abortion as a sacrifice to the self made god called sexual immorality or lasciviousness. Shani, you can see why both are detestable to God.
But God also detests ones who uses divination which is false prophets, witchcraft, one who interprets omens (fortune tellers  would fit in here), sorcerers, anyone who casts spells, mediums, or spirits.
So your friend seeking out a psych medium was a detestable act as far as God is concerned.
Shani, these may be O.T. verses but they are still applicable today to see how they are still detestable to God. So when you state “I have considered meeting with the same psychic in order to get some insight as to whether I am following the correct path in life as I have been through some intense changes recently.” You should see this by these verses this is the wrong thing to do. Enough said.

DO NOT BE DEFILED BY FALSE OR FAKE HEALERS THAT DO THE SAME THING AS PSYCH MEDIUMS DO.

Faith healers who call themselves preachers do the same thing (as the psych mediums). The biggest fake healer is a mult-millionaire, telling people what they want to hear, what they want to happen, and then charge them money for it. His name is Benny Hinn. Benny Hinn has never been to seminary and is not even Bible-trained, but he is a good con-artist under the cloak of Christianity. In a Benny Hinn crusade he has powerful and loud music, there is loud singing, loud dancing, and he gets the crowd spiritually jacked up. Why do they get so jacked up? Because they already psyched up because they came seeking a healing by a con-artist who will get them spiritually jacked up and make them think they are healed because they are already in the right frame of mind to have anything suggested to them. Just like your friend “sought out advice” and she would have accepted anything suggested to her because the psychic told her exactly what she wanted to hear. These people come to these crusades to be manipulated in the same way.
Benny Hinn works the crowd by getting them spiritually jacked up like I said above, then he passes around the hat for the offering. He does not wait til the service over to get the offering, but he want his money before he “does his healings.” Sounds like a con-game to me.
Then he has “ministers” screen the ones who are going to be “healed” and he already knows something about them and  what kind of “healing” they want. These people who are suppose to be “healed” are already programmed before hand to fall backwards when he touches them, because  this is “how they receive the Holy Spirit.” Since all the contestants are pre-screened, pre-programmed on how to act, all he has to do give the healing that THEY WANT TO GET. He tells them what they want to hear, just like your friend was told by the psychic. It is a con-game. Benny Hinn has been sued in court so many times because  his “healings” went sour.
Only God  heals not Benny Hinn. If Benny Hinn is able to heal like he says he can, why doesn’t he go to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas and heal everyone. If he can heal people like he says he can,  he should be able to go from room to room healing everyone, no matter what their ailment or problem should be. He can not do it because he is a fraud, a fake, a con-artist, just like your friend’s psychic medium.
Jesus Christ, who was God in the flesh, healed everybody who came to Him. Why because he was God. God is the only one who heals.

    GOD DOES THE HEALING:

Psa. 103:2-5 states “Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who HEALS all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.” (my emphasis)

Jer. 17:14 states “HEAL me, O LORD, and I shall be HEALED; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise” (my emphasis). Jeremiah did not ask any fake faith healer or psych medium to heal him. He is asking the Lord to heal him.

Psa. 30:2 “O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You HEALED me” (my emphasis). David did not call on psych mediums to heal him, but he is saying he called on God and he gave God credit for the healing.

Shani, there are so many verses I could give you that shows that God is the only one who heals it would make your head swim. But you get the idea.
You stated “I have been through some intense changes recently. I do, however, have concerns with doing so as Biblically I realise that seeking such advise is not acceptable.” At least you know that seeking psych mediums is not biblical and it not “acceptable.” I have given you enough biblical proof to show what God do not be defiled by going such mediums, God dislikes these mediums, God judges the people who use them, and God says they are detestable to Him.
I have shown to you that psych mediums and false faith healers are phony and driven by greed and the devil.
If you are having problems, then you need to seek out a Christian counselor to help you work out your problems.
If you ever get to the point that you do not know for sure what you are doing is wrong. Always, always, do what the Bible says is the RIGHT thing to do, and God will bless it.
See Shani, in this politically correct world we live is corrupt. So being POLITICALLY CORRECT will send you to Hell because it so antithetical and hates  what What Jesus did on the Cross, but being BIBLICALLY CORRECT will send you to Heaven and allows you to live the victorious Christian life that God wants you to live.

Leave the Mediums alone.

Blessings.
