I believe that every word of the Bible is God-Breathed. This blessed book is the foundation of truth for faith and practice. If you ask this volunteer a question you will receive an answer from the Bible that is based upon a litteral, normal interpretation, taking into account the grammar and culture of the time.

I have been in the ministry almost 20 years. During this time, the Lord has used me as Senior Pastor, counsellor, youth pastor and generally in the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.

Baptists - Judas Iscariot / mary magdalene

Expert: Pastor Don Carpenter - 10/16/2009

Question
Let every man be a liar but let Gods word be true -- so if I am wrong then I will just have to appologize, but I was running my foolish mouth and got on the topic of Judas Iscariot and said that I did not believe or get the impression that Judas, had the same relationship as the other disciples and was a tare. I do not believe that Iscariot believed Jesus was telling the truth who he said he was until he fulfilled prophesy when he accepted the money and knew his fate was sealed and tried to redeem himself by giving back the coins, but it was too late.

I went onto say Iscariot was not given access to what went on with Jesus because he knew that Iscariot did not love him. If Iscariot loved him he would have not betrayed Jesus.

On another note. I do not believe that Mary knew that Jesus was going to die (lay down His own life) but rather beieved He was going away from them because we know in part and prophesize in part we do not know the whole revelation because we can not handle the truth sometimes. Blessing!

Answer
Hi Roberta,

Thanks for this great question.  I am very sorry for my late response.  You are right that Judas was never a born again believer.  Well before Judas betrayed Jesus look at what Jesus said about him:

John 6:70-71
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? 71  He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

As for Mary, I believe she did not comprehend what the plan really was, but Jesus did articulate the plan several times before calvary... no one could get it until it happened.

I hope that this helps.

I am so very sorry for my late response.

In Christ
Pastor Don
