Question
Hello. How much faith does God want us to have. When we first start out as christians what if our faith is little. Will we still be saved?

Answer
Kitty:
    Thank you for your question.
You answered your own question in the subject line.  Jesus said if we have faith like a mustard seed, one of the smallest seeds there is, we can move mountains.
As we begin to exercise our faith as new believers it may not be much at first.  We may be able to trust God for something "small".  But as God meets our needs and we continue to trust Him for greater things our faith increases and is strengthened.
It's important to remember, too, Kitty, that our salvation is not based on anything that we DO--it's because of what Christ has DONE.  Jesus said that in order to be saved we must have faith like a child--just a little bit--to believe we are in need of a Saviour from sin.  God is not going to tell us that our faith is not strong enough to merit the getting or keeping of salvation.  It's a free gift offered to
whosoever will".
God bless you, Kitty.  Hope this helps.
