Baptists/Keeping faith

Question
How do you keep your religion in a household that is not very religious?

My parents are Christians (Baptists) as well as I am. We moved in with her boyfriend, and I started attending a church right down the street from my school. My mom and her boyfriend didn't start going to church on Sundays until a couple of months later. Although we go to different churchs, I love my church very much. I'm religious (I could do alot better in following the Word, but I can still say that I'm religious). I believe that my mom is too, but only on Sundays. I have never heard her talk about God or anything having to do with the Bible. I took a mission trip to El Salvador in the summer of 09 and when I came back my faith was strong as it's every been. But now-a-days, it's not so strong. I was just wondering if you could explain to me how to remain religious in a home (and in a school) that is not.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Chris,

Hope you are ok.

I will do my best to answer your question and to hopefully give you some guidance. Faith is a personal thing, so your faith is personal to you, despite what others do or say.

But some people think that going to Church for an hour every Sunday morning, makes them a good Christian, my view is that it does not, but they may think so. Christianity is a way of life of walking in Christ. You cannot just be a Christian on Sundays!

Do not beat yourself up by saying you could do better following the Word, we can all say that at times, but the Lord is happy that you are doing your best, which is better than a lot of people.

Your mission trip obviously did you good and made your faith stronger, you have to hang on to that thought.

To stay religious in a non religious home or school, can be hard because if you are like me you want to shout your faith and beliefs from the roof tops, but you must remain strong in faith and walk with God, put all your trust in God and he will help you and carry you through. Do not look down on folk because they do not have your faith, but at the same time be proud of yours.
Have you tried talking to them about the Bible etc, try it and see what response you get, they may listen to you. If they do not do not be disheartened, as it should not affect you as a Christian.

We have to walk our life in the way we think we should and that as a Christian [rest assured, you certainly are!}we walk with the Lord, we talk to the Lord and we listen to the Lord.

Please be encouraged and be proud of what you are!

Hope this helps

God Bless You

Expertise

I can answer most questions on the subject of the Baptist/Christian faith. I am an active member of a Baptist Church Fellowship. I study the Bible and the Scriptures every day and have no problem talking to people about this. I am more than happy to answer the Lord's calling and help and support all people that are in need. I believe that is now my role in life.

Experience

Some times people go the wrong way in life because they have been let down by those that are close to them. It is all about trust, compassion and support. I carry out a lot of outreach work, so I know how important these things are to be able to reach people. I have worked with drug addicts and the homeless, as well as young people who have lost their way in life or are in prison.

Past/Present Clients
I do not call them clients, they are people in need of the love of God and of people. I have mentored many young people, including those that are in our local prison, to hopefully live an honest and Christian life.
