Baptists/forget
Expert: Rev. Robert Woods - 12/14/2009
QuestionOur pastor threw me a curve Sunday. He said that God chose not to remember our sins but never forgets them. I throught that once that you were saved that our sins are wash away by Christ blood, and that the only judgement we will have is Christ judge of our works.
Question is how can He die for our sins and still remember them after we are in Heaven if sin does not exsist in Heaven.
Arent we to forgive and forget are we to forgive and keep the rememberance of the sins in our heart.

AnswerBlessings and thank you for your question.
The Bible tells us that God remembers our sin no more after salvation. That as far "as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions from us" Psalm 103:12
The Bible also points to the fact that we all will be judged before God. Satan will accuse us, point out our sin to God and try to claim us. But Jesus, the advocate, will be our defense and His blood will cover our sin.
I understand what your pastor is saying. But it is a circular argument. God is all knowing, which means there is nothing that He does not know including your past sins. God does not forget because He is all knowing. But God chooses not to remember your sin against you. You see it is a circle. God knows, God can't forget, God chooses not to remember it against you.
God does not live in time as we do. Jesus said that He was the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He did not say that He was the beginning and now is the end. He is both the beginning and the ending at the same time. God lives outside of the boundaries of time and space. So for Him, He lives in the yesterday, the today and the tomorrow all at once. So He sees you from your birth to death all at once. (that concept should blow your mind, it does mine) So God is living in eternity with us now for us it hasn't even happened yet.
One day we will all see the world as He does. Until then, we struggle to understand how truly wonderful God's grace is.
