Baptists/Cremation

Question
My wife and I are considering the act of cremation after our death, and I would like to know what GOD's word says in relation to this, and i would hope that would be the Baptist final answer on this. I am of Baptist faith, but I don't think that would have any bearing on this subject.

Thanks,

Answer
Blessings and thank you for your question.

There is no prohibition for creation in Scripture.  When the act of burning of a body is mentioned, it is usually a result of humiliation or curse.  I don't really think it matters what happens to our bodies after death.  Christ will resurrect our bodies (whether ash or dust) at the second coming and give us a new glorious body.

Here are the scriptures pertaining to cremation: Genesis 22:2, Lev 20:14, 21:9; Numbers 16:35; Joshua 7:15, 25; Judges 11:30-40; 1 Sam 31:11-13; 1 Kings 13:1-2; 2 Kings 23:16; 2 Chronicles 28:3, 34:5; Amos 2:1; Amos 6:9-10; and 1 Corinthians 13:3
