Baptists/Dancing a sin?

Question
Hello,

I am curious as to why Baptists consider dancing a sin? I went to a Southern Baptist church and was told that even married couples are forbidden to dance in the privacy of their own home. Is this true?

Answer
Some, but not all, Baptists consider dancing a sin; this would include a lot of Southern Baptists and most all fundamentalist Baptists (but there are some 250 types of Baptists worldwide).

As to why some Baptists consider dancing a sin, it has nothing to do with scripture per se, but rather comes from the belief among some that dancing leads to sexual sin.

Oh, and I suppose it is possible that some Baptists would not even allow married couples to dance in the privacy of one's home, although I can't recall ever hearing actually voicing this.
