My best friend was married to a man for nine years.about eight years into the marriage she found out that he had been married to a woman before her for four months.The woman deserted him and got an anullment because she liked single life better than married life.My friend is Church of Christ. She went and talked to her pastor about it and he told her that she was living in adultery and the only way she could make it right with God is that she would have to divorce him.So she divorced him.Did he give her the right advice.I know in the bible it says that God hates divorce.

Thanks for this interesting question.  I would not ever tell someone to get a divorce, even if they should not have married.... God hates divorce.  The only way I would counsel divorce is because of infidelity within the couple.  However... it is too late to be second guessing this counsel now.
