Question
Can a christian have a membership in a southern baptist church and go to another church that is not a S.B.C. and become a member of that church but still claims that he is a Southern Baptist.

Answer
Hi WIllie,

Thanks for this great question. I believe that church membership needs to be exclusive to one church.  I do not know of any situation in the Bible where one held dual membership.  Every baptist church that I know of would require a transfer of membership from another church if you were to join that church.  THe letter of transfer says that you are no longer a member of the one church and have transfered to the other church.

I hope that this helps you.
