Baptists/Women Pastors
Expert: Pastor Don Carpenter - 1/27/2010
QuestionI just read the answer you gave to the young lady that asked about women pastors. And I just want to ask do you think women should be in the pulpit preaching and being the senior pastor of a church. Now I do know that there are other denominations and churches that do allow women pastors but I am trying to do a study on what people think of the matter.
Because I see a lot of female pastors in all denominations the catholic now have female head priests.
Is it wrong for a female to pastor or preach to the people. Becaue I do know that the bible dose say how wonderful are the feet of them that preach the word of God. And the bible also says that God is not a respecter of persons he dose not care what color or gender you as long as you are willing to take the mantle to another level and lead his people. And the Bible also says Who are we to jugde another mans servant.
I just want to know.
AnswerHi William,
Thank you so much for this question. It is true that we are not supposed to judge another man's servant, but we are to obey scriptures. The Bible is very very clear in this matter. The Apostle Paul , inspired by the Holy Ghost, says this:
1 Timothy 2:11-14
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Women are not to lead men in any way. Women can teach children, and other women, but not men... therefore preaching before men is absolutely forbidden by scriptures.
I hope that this helps you.
In Christ
