Baptists/Scriptures on Men
Expert: Pastor Don Carpenter - 11/29/2010
QuestionGood Evening Pastor Carpenter. I need your help. I am trying to help write a welcome speech for a friend and I am in need of Bible Scriptures for a Men's Day program. So, my question is, "What are some scriptures that I can use for this type of program?"
Answer Hi Kristine,
Thanks for this great question. I am so sorry for my very late response. This is a very busy time of year, but that is no excuse. This is a very general topic. Here are some that come immediately to mind.
1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Isaiah 40:30-31
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Galatians 6:7-9
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
1 Peter 2:11-12
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Matthew 5:27-29
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Romans 13:14
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
1 Peter 3:7
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Ephesians 5:25-28
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Job 31:1
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Joshua 24:15
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
I hope that this gives you a place to start... again, I am so sorry that I am so late with this.
In Christ
