Question
I have a friend that is atheist. Recently he stated that if God still heals today why is there no documented evidence of said healing? Is there anything in medical journals that points to unexplained and miraculous healing?

Answer
Thanks for writing, Joel.  There may be documentation in medical journals, but I don't look for things like that.  Even if God does heal now like he did during certain periods of history, and even if it were well documented or happened right in front of an atheist, it wouldn't necessarily change an atheist's mind and heart.
Consider the signs and wonders that Pharaoh saw, yet he didn't want God.  Even the Israelites who experienced so many miracles, often turned away from God.
God heals when it's the right time and place according to His plan, but an atheist doesn't want to give control of his life to a Creator/Judge, so his pride blinds him to the Truth.  If we entrust our life to the One who created everything and holds it all in place (Col.1:16-17) then we're connected to the Source and Reason before and beyond this temporary life.  How aimless, how limited is an atheist, since he won't give God credit for the awesome, huge designs and laws that govern space, nor for the minute details and beauty too small to see ordinarily.  With all that magnificence, God still invites us to have a meaningful relationship of reliance on Him, and makes that possible at such a great cost--the painful sacrifice of the life of His dear Son.
God makes more sense than any other explanation for everything we see and feel, but still there are people who do or say anything to avoid facing that truth.
I encourage you to pray for God to draw your friend to Him, and that God would show you how to help that happen.  God's Word is powerful, so rely on it and share it whenever you can.
   Sincerely,
   Priscilla

Expertise

I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective.

Experience

I help lead music in a small Southern Baptist Church. Although I rarely have the opportunity to play, I do play the bass guitar, drums, tambourine, harmonica and piano. I like Southern Gospel and praise choruses, but only know by heart the words from the hymnal, and my vocal range is half an octave lower than most music is written, but fortunately my husband transposes well and also plays by ear.
