Baptists/about sabbath and Sunday law....
Expert: Rev. Stuart Woodward - 12/3/2010
QuestionI read one of your answer from somebody regarding the
sabbath and Sunday of worship... I read all the new
testament but I cannot find A single word saying that we
should worship on Sunday, sanctified and hallowed it. In
(Matthew 5:17-18) Jesus said he came not to destroy the law,
but to Fulfill.( John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(Deuteronomy
4:2) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you,
neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep
the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (
revelation 22:18-19) 18For I testify unto every man that
heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man
shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the
plagues that are written in this book:
19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book
of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the
book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things
which are written in this book.
AnswerHello and thank you for your comments though there is no question attached to them. You clearly have strongly held convictions on the subject which I respect. However, I would encourage you to read the following:
Colossians 2:13-19 and Acts 15 in which observance of the Sabbath Day was not one of the matters the church decided was applicable to Gentiles.
I hope these comments provoke some thought and wish you God's blessing in all your studies.
