Question
I have a friend who married a man 10 years ago.Eight years in to the marriage she found out that he had been married to a woman who left him and got an annulment four months after there marriage. My friend said that she went and talked to three pastors Baptist.Church of Christ and Pentecostal and she said that they all told her she was living in adultery and to make it right before God she would have to divorce her husband. So she divorced him.She is now getting remarried and i was wondering if she done the right thing. Is there rally such a thing as living in adultery.

Answer
Hi Johny,

Hope you are well and I will do my best with this question.

This is what the Bible says in Mark -

A man that divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her, if she divorces him and marries another man she commits adultery against him.

I think it is the perception of how you view it, the husband got an annulmant, this being a legal process, there was nothing else to be done. Now for her to divorce him the verse has to be taken literally. But remember that if so she is doing the same thing, marrying after a divorce!

I think that as long as she feels that she is doing the right thing then God will bless her, as He wants us all to be happy, that is why we all have a free will to make our own decisions.
There are many others in the same predicament.

Your friend will know in her own mind if the Lord is happy with her, and if not he would not be blessing her decision to be remarried as he knows all that goes on.

I think in present day living in adultery is a frame of mind as long as the mind is free and the spirit is pure then I do not see a problem with this.

I hope your friend will be happy, if she has any doubts then she must speak to the Lord in prayer.

Regards and God Bless

Expertise

I can answer most questions on the subject of the Baptist/Christian faith. I am an active member of a Baptist Church Fellowship. I study the Bible and the Scriptures every day and have no problem talking to people about this. I am more than happy to answer the Lord's calling and help and support all people that are in need. I believe that is now my role in life.

Experience

Some times people go the wrong way in life because they have been let down by those that are close to them. It is all about trust, compassion and support. I carry out a lot of outreach work, so I know how important these things are to be able to reach people. I have worked with drug addicts and the homeless, as well as young people who have lost their way in life or are in prison.
