Question
What is the formal teaching of the Baptist denomination on the symbols in Revelation 17 of the seven headed beast, its ten horns, and the whore called Babylon?

Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi Ernie,

Hope you are well and will do my best with this for you.

The 7 Headed Beast.

This Beast is the one that carried the Harlot/Whore.

The 7 heads represents the 7 mountains on which she sits. Also 7 Kings of which 5 have fallen , one is and one is to come.
The 10 horns are 10 Kings who have yet to receive a Kingdom, but are of one mind and give power and authority to the Beast for a short time to make war against the Lord, but all will be overcome by the Lord.
The Beast will then hate and destroy the Harlot, who he carried and she shall be known as the great city reigning over the Kings of the Earth.

The Harlot/Whore.

Babylon is a symbol of all what a woman should not be, explaining the weakness of the flesh
and spirit, and instead valuing the material things of the world. And how we can all be tempted of these things against the wishes of God. By not listening or being in Christ but to be of the abominations of the Earth, and of Satan. On the second coming all such followers of Babylon will be judged and many banished.

The book of Revelation explains what will happen when the King of Kings soon returns and the battles that will follow, but the Lord shall be victorious in battle.

The symbals of the Beast and the Whore show us that if controlled by the Devil and you are against the Lord then you may well perish, but is showing that all are given chance to change.
The Beast and the Whore symbalises all the evil and imoral things of this world that will continue until the second coming.

God Bless

Expertise

I can answer most questions on the subject of the Baptist/Christian faith. I am an active member of a Baptist Church Fellowship. I study the Bible and the Scriptures every day and have no problem talking to people about this. I am more than happy to answer the Lord's calling and help and support all people that are in need. I believe that is now my role in life.

Experience

Some times people go the wrong way in life because they have been let down by those that are close to them. It is all about trust, compassion and support. I carry out a lot of outreach work, so I know how important these things are to be able to reach people. I have worked with drug addicts and the homeless, as well as young people who have lost their way in life or are in prison.

Past/Present Clients
I do not call them clients, they are people in need of the love of God and of people. I have mentored many young people, including those that are in our local prison, to hopefully live an honest and Christian life.
