Dr. Howe, I can't begin to thank you enough for your posting on divorce and remarriage. I have been in utter TORMENT for a week after being told that I had been in a state of continual adultery. I left a marriage in my young unsaved past. I didn't want to marry the man but he pushed mercilessly and I couldn't stand under the pressure. I divorced and later remarried a "Christian." I use quotes because it turned out this man was Christian in name only and became emotionally abusive and threatening (pulling a gun at one point, among many other things). I eventually left in absolute fear offering reconciliation only with counseling but he refused. My salvation came during this marriage. Had I known Scripture, I would have waited longer and looked for the Fruit of the Spirit. I will NEVER tie myself to another human without watching for this fruit. God has done amazing things to heal my boundary issues and my soul. But after the torment of this week, I have no question but simply want to say the deepest thanks to you and the man who asked the question publicly. I've seen no other article or posting that expresses the heart of God as clearly as this. Its the FIRST time I've had peace in a week. THANK YOU! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I have over 27 years of experience doing ministry as a bivocational minster/professional nurse. I do ministry as a volunteer with ministries that are nonprofit and not able to pay for ministers. I have experience working with youth, children, elderly in different placement settings, mentally ill and mentally challenged in different settings, felons in state prison and county jails, hospital chaplancy, choir ministry, and deacon ministry. I am an ordained SBC minister. I am a Professional Chaplain. I am currently doing hospital minstry, ministry to shut-ins, and a chaplain with Victim Relief Ministry working with victims of diasters and domestic violence. I work as psychiatric nurse in large county jail system.
