Question
My brother has been watching a t v preacher, Arnold Murray from Sheperds Chapel in Arkansas, and I am afraid that Dr. Murray is leading him down a wrong path.  Dr.Murray believes and teaches in an 8th day creation, wherein others were created.  Also, he teaches that there were other ages before our age, he teaches there will be no rapture. The gaints were a result of the angels having sex with humans.  What can you tell me about this man and how do I steer my brother away from his teachings.  I am Southern Baptist, and he was brought up in a Southern Baptist Church

Answer
Hi Charlotte,

Hope you are well and thank you for this question, as always I will do my best!

This is a very confusing subject, Gen 1:27/28 says that God created all races on the 6th day, but then according to how it is read, God then made Adam to till the ground etc after as in Gen:2:5.
In Gen 4:14 it says that when cast out Cain was afraid that others might slay him! He then went into the land of Nod met his wife and had Enoch ourselves, so we could ask ourselves who were those that would slay him and where did his wife come from?
Adam and Eve were told by God to replenish the Earth, but to replenish means that there was some thing there before!

Now my view is that it is just the way it is written, and that God made Adam and Eve and that all others came after, they had other children besid Cain, Abel and Seth, who would have produced children, and to allow this the Lord let Adam and Eve live for many years, he had to start all things off some how.

As for humans having sex with Angels, I have never heard this before so as far as I am concerned it is nonsense.

Regarding the Rapture, although this term is not used in the Bible, the scriptures say that all true believers that are still alive before the end will be snatched from Earth and up to Heaven, just before the end of the age, those that are left will go Tribulation, which some say will last for 7 years, this being the last 7 years of this age before the return of the Lord.

As I am in England obviously I have no knowledge of this man or as to why he follows this line of teaching, all he is doing is confusing people. It is the wrong path!

The Lord made us and all things and on the 7th day he rested, that is all us believers need to know, and I do believe in the Rapture as that is also in the scriptures.

Hope this helps

Regards and God Bless

Expertise

I can answer most questions on the subject of the Baptist/Christian faith. I am an active member of a Baptist Church Fellowship. I study the Bible and the Scriptures every day and have no problem talking to people about this. I am more than happy to answer the Lord's calling and help and support all people that are in need. I believe that is now my role in life.

Experience

Some times people go the wrong way in life because they have been let down by those that are close to them. It is all about trust, compassion and support. I carry out a lot of outreach work, so I know how important these things are to be able to reach people. I have worked with drug addicts and the homeless, as well as young people who have lost their way in life or are in prison.
