Baptists/Communion Table

Question
Why is there an issue about placing foreign items on the Communion Table when it is not in use?

Answer
Blessings and thank you for your question.

There is no issue about placing foreign items on a Communion Table.  We place flowers, a Bible, anointing oil, and other things on ours.  Some see the Table as Holy, like the Old Testament items in the temple.  This restriction is a local church issue and since each Baptist church is autonomous from others, it would not surprise me to hear of a local church that does this.
