Baptists/Reverence in the Sanctuary

Question
Yesterday our Pastor's children's story was centered around buying and selling.  I'm not even sure what the final gist was because I got caught up in the fact that he used real money and invited the children to purchase articles that he took out of a bag and placed on the communion table.  The Lord's table was set for communion and, as such, I believe it to be among the most sacred of symbols we have in a Baptist church.  In short, I was appalled at his lack of reverence.  This is not the first time something like has happened.  I am a deacon of the church.  Do I confront the Pastor about this behaviour?

Answer
Hi Lynda,

First of all why was the childrens story centered around buying and selling and I find the fact that your Pastor used real money to be disturbing and appalling.Plus it defeats much of the Christian faith and teachings.
Remember when Jesus entered the Temple and what he did!

Also I do agree that the Communion table is sacred and should not be used for anything but Communion, as far as I am concerned this is a complete lack of reverence!

Lynda, as you are a Deacon, this being an officer of the Church and that this is not the first time similar has happened, I suggest that you speak to the Pastor and ask him his motives, what is he trying to teach and as to why he thought the Communion table was the place to do it.

As a Deacon you must show reverence and so must a Pastor, I would not confront but I certainly would speak to him about it and tell him how you and I have no doubt many more see it.

I hope this helps.

Regardfs and God Bless

Expertise

I can answer most questions on the subject of the Baptist/Christian faith. I am an active member of a Baptist Church Fellowship. I study the Bible and the Scriptures every day and have no problem talking to people about this. I am more than happy to answer the Lord's calling and help and support all people that are in need. I believe that is now my role in life.

Experience

Some times people go the wrong way in life because they have been let down by those that are close to them. It is all about trust, compassion and support. I carry out a lot of outreach work, so I know how important these things are to be able to reach people. I have worked with drug addicts and the homeless, as well as young people who have lost their way in life or are in prison.
