Question
I am getting married in November and would love for my best friend to perform the ceremony. The question we have is can he perform the ceremony between me,a christain, and my fiance, a nonpracticing jew. Please help if possible and much appreciated

Answer
Dear Alisha,
   Thanks for writing.
Legally, I don't think the ceremony counts.  Paying for the marriage license at your county courthouse probably gives you a legal marriage.  If you need another legal signature, you could always have a judge sign the license.  Otherwise, it's up to your best friend whether he will perform a ceremony for you.
I pray that you have considered II Corinthians 6:14 before getting married. "Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?"  God can help you find a spouse who is a Christian best friend, if you trust and follow His guidance.
Eternity is much longer than this temporary life, so please make your decisions based on eternal wisdom from God's Word, the Bible.  Your life and any future marriage will fulfill God's perfect plan for you, when you read and heed God's Word. Matthew 7:21-27
I remember to read the Bible every day when I pair it with my breakfast.  I pray that you will also ask God's help to read His Word every day.
   Sincerely,
   Priscilla Lyons

I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective.

Experience

I help lead music in a small Southern Baptist Church. Although I rarely have the opportunity to play, I do play the bass guitar, drums, tambourine, harmonica and piano. I like Southern Gospel and praise choruses, but only know by heart the words from the hymnal, and my vocal range is half an octave lower than most music is written, but fortunately my husband transposes well and also plays by ear.
