Question
I was saved 2 years ago but struggled with homosexuality. I decided to try and peruse both life styles... being a "gay Christian." It failed. My boyfriend at the time gave up the life style and I wasn't ready... this lead to some destructive behavior. At this point, I have continued to sin because I believe I am damned. This belief has kept me in bondage and I want out. I want to be forgiven. Paul, however, makes it clear that it isn't possible... (Hebrews 10:26). Am I damned?

Answer
Hi Steven,

I am so sorry for the late reply but your question has only just got to me.

Hebrews 10:26 is pretty heavy stuff, but I have had many similar questions over the years. If you know you have sinned then pray to the Lord and repent, what you are doing is thinking once a sinner always a sinner, a trap that many fall into. This will my friend keep you bondage forever. So you must break away from sin, remember what Jesus said, hate the sin but love the sinner, so God still loves you.

With God all things are possible, no matter what the circumstances, so open your heart and speak to Him.I know a few gay christians, it is the christian bit that matters, remember God made us all and God loves us all!

You are in bondage because you are ashamed of your sins, you have to move on, repent your sins, you are not damned, just confused.

My view is that being gay does not stop you being a good christian, if that is the problem, why should it?

Be true to yourself, be true to God, and God will free you from all bondage and damnation!

Expertise

I can answer most questions on the subject of the Baptist/Christian faith. I am an active member of a Baptist Church Fellowship. I study the Bible and the Scriptures every day and have no problem talking to people about this. I am more than happy to answer the Lord's calling and help and support all people that are in need. I believe that is now my role in life.

Experience

Some times people go the wrong way in life because they have been let down by those that are close to them. It is all about trust, compassion and support. I carry out a lot of outreach work, so I know how important these things are to be able to reach people. I have worked with drug addicts and the homeless, as well as young people who have lost their way in life or are in prison.
