Baptists/Sunday School
Expert: Dr. Billy Kryger - 1/16/2011
QuestionI have recently filled the position of Sunday School Director of our small Baptist church. I would like to know if their are any guidelines that should be followed in Sunday School Department. I am interested in growing our Sunday School. The one problem I am having is the teachers don't want to try any new ideas. Do you have any suggestions for growing this department or have you knowledge of any guidelines. Thank you for anything you can offer.
Answer There is really no scriptural mandate for the administration of a Sunday school, though there are some good books and periodicals that address this ministry. One good resource that I have found is www.leadingsundayschool.com. As to motivating teachers, if you figure that out let me know how you do it :-). The best advice I can give you is to pray and continue to serve the Lord in the ministry He has given you. Don't get discouraged. Remember you serve an audience of One. I hope you're getting some support from you Pastor and church leaders.
Best Wishes for Continued Success,
Pastor Billy
