Baptists/Being a church member

Question
Are you required to be a church member in order to be a song leader, Sunday school teacher, secretary, etc.

Answer
Hi Mary,

Thank you for this great question.  I am sorry that it has been so long for you to get an answer.  Baptist churches are autonomous, that is, they are self governing, so there is not one unifying rule to which all Baptist must adhere in this realm.  I will say that every Baptist Church I know of requires membership before any higher level of service.  Church membership indicates that you agree with the doctrine and standards of the church, therefore if you are teaching, you would be teaching and representing the same faith as taught by the church.

I hope that this helps you.

Expertise

I believe that every word of the Bible is God-Breathed. This blessed book is the foundation of truth for faith and practice. If you ask this volunteer a question you will receive an answer from the Bible that is based upon a litteral, normal interpretation, taking into account the grammar and culture of the time.

Experience

I have been in the ministry almost 20 years. During this time, the Lord has used me as Senior Pastor, counsellor, youth pastor and generally in the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.
