Baptists/once saved always saved

Question
I am curious about once saved always saved, so if a person such as myself is saved and have free will as we all do, can we not turn about from God and choose to not serve him anymore and change our salvation?

Also Revelations 3:5 states I will not blot your name out of the book of life! Where does this fit into the once saved always saved, if a name was in the book and then it would be blotted out?

Thanks so much
Crissy

Answer
Hi Crissy,
Good question and thanks for asking.   If we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior the Lord  our names are written in the book of life.   Those who believe God says He will not blot their names out of the book. It is a promise of eternal security.   God is assuring believers they will not be lost.   As Revelation 3:5 says, the one who overcomes will not have his name blotted out of the book of life. Those who overcome are those who believe.  Because these lost people rejected God's plan and substituted their way, their names were not written in the Book of Life, they all will be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire.
In Revelation 20:12 there are two books mentioned.   One is the book of life and those whose name are not there are cast into the Lake of Life.   The verse says they are judged out of the books.   The other book is the book that records their life deeds and those who at this judgment will be judged by what is found in this book according to how they lived their lives.
