Question
I probably shoulden't be confused about this but I am so please be patient.I thought once a person became a Born Again Christian their sins were "Forgiven and Forgotten" and that they woulden't have to face Jesus on judgement day  to be accountable for those sins all over again.I thought that was the reason why he died on the cross for us.I have heard conflicting views about all of this,so I would really appreciate If you could clarify this for me.Thank you and may God Bless You.

1 Cor 3:10-15

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. KJV

Sins are forgiven, but there are ramifications.  When you are sinning you are not building with materials that will survive God's judgment at the BEMA seat.  You will lose rewards, be ashamed and weep.  Yet, if you are born again and all you works are burned up you are saved because you are on the foundation of Jesus.  Your position in Christ is not altered but your rewards here and there can be sacrificed plus the lack of fellowship will not give you the abundant life you are called to live.  Our works are judged here.  Our sins were judged on the Cross and we are dead to them when we become alive in Christ at salvation.  Hope this clears up the issue for you.
