Baptists/while serving communion?

Question
Hello,

While serving communion a young man asked for my hand of graciousness. I accepted. I was told that was a no, no. Was I wrong? Where can I find the do's and donts of serving communion. I thought we are to serve and offering our prayers for that individual through the spirit we feel.  The churhes are set of so many rules and no answers of why? Where in the Bible does it list the rules?  Where do they come from? Thx

Answer
I can see no biblical injunction against the act.  It is a cultural taboo.  The Bible does give lists of dos and don't but also gives principles so that we can apply them to our day.  If the handshake was just out of fellowship and good will while he was waiting for the plate to return to him then I see no issue.  Maybe someone felt it was more of a seeking to have it lead into a relationship or something.  You will have to ask your pastor for the chapter and verse or the rationale to call it an offense as only he would know.
