Question
Who takes over when the pasyor is sick and do the members vote someone in until the pastor is able to reyurn

Answer
Hi Libby.
Sounds like you may have some disagreement among the members as to what should happen in this situation.
Don't know about your particular bylaws, but the Bible emphasizes that all Christians should be prepared to "Give an answer regarding the Hope that is within them".   Also, to be "Instant in season, and out of season".
It would be best if a men in your congregation would be prepared to step up and fill the pastor's position, temporarily, or permanently, if necessary.
Often, folks develop a mentality that they are to be in the pews and the pastor is in his spot.
Christians should be capable to at least give their testimony, what God has done in their life, their family's, and their Hope for the future.  If the group shares with each other, it would be encouraging for all of them.  Some songs, prayer, etc.   This is real church.  We make it into a ritual, sometimes.
If there is no one thought capable to fill the pastor's position, try this.

I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective.

Experience

I help lead music in a small Southern Baptist Church. Although I rarely have the opportunity to play, I do play the bass guitar, drums, tambourine, harmonica and piano. I like Southern Gospel and praise choruses, but only know by heart the words from the hymnal, and my vocal range is half an octave lower than most music is written, but fortunately my husband transposes well and also plays by ear.
