Baptists/Is It Possible?

Is it possible to cease from doing those sins of the flesh in 1 Cor. 6: 9-10 and Gal. 5: 19-21 and Eph. 5: 3-5 AFTER one commits their life to Christ, having accepted Him into their life?  And if not, then why did Jesus say, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes," if it's not possible?

In Christ,

Hi Greg,
Good question, but you answered your question yourself.   Yes, it is possible and as a believer grows and matures in Christ, as he gives himself to a growing commentment to the Lord, he will sin less and less and be able to overcome sins.    1 John 1:8-10 promises that.  Yes, we will sin, but God knows that and will help us to get the victory over sin.
The sins of 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 can be commented by a believer, but rarely...verse 11 explains, "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." #1 Corinthians 6:11#  These are not the sins of the lost who do not have Christ in their hearts or the Holy Spirit to guide them.   These sins are a way of life of many people....but not of a true child of God.   However, if a believer does fall into sin God chastens him as Hebrew 12:-13 tells.  God will also if the believer refuses to repent take that persons life as 1 John 5:16-17 explains.  Also see 1 Corinthians 11:27-32.
You referenced Gal. 5:19-21...but did you read verse 22? "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. #Galatians 5:22-25#
Also read the rest of Ephesians 5:7-18.
God says "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." #Romans 12:1-2#

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." #1 John 4:4#

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" #1 John 5:4-5#

I hope this help explain this. If you have further questions or comments please write.
