Hello Rev,

I have a very simple question:

Is it acceptable for Christians or for Born Again/Baptist to kneel down or pray to the Cross?

If not why not?

Thank you.

We are not to bow down to any graven image and I would include the Cross as an image since it represents Christ who is God.  Will someone go to Hell for doing it? No.  Should they? No.  Luther would have called it an aid to faith, but it is a poor aid as very few Crosses look like the real one since they are gaudy made out of jewels and precious metals.  It was an rugged or rough hewn wooden one.

I am more of a polemicist than an apologist. I especially desire to answer questions concerning discipleship/holiness, "gray areas", etc. If all you wish is an argument then I am not your man. Sincere seekers only need e-mail me.

I have ministered in several states since my conversion in 1975. I participate in many forums and have written two books. I recently changed to Assembly of God, but after 40 years, I can still answer questions about Baptists and doctrinal issues that are common to many sects.
