Baptists/immortality of a soul / question
I want to know if the soul of man is immortal. If yes, tell me why. I hope you will help in finding an answer to this question.
Thanks for this great question. I believe that the Bible tells us that the soul will exist forever somewhere.
The believer is promised everlasting life:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16, KJV 1900)
“Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.” (1 Timothy 1:16, KJV 1900)
“This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.” (John 6:58, KJV 1900)
The unbeliever is promised everlasting punishment in hell
“raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.” (Jude 13, KJV 1900)
“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” (Revelation 14:11, KJV 1900)
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10, KJV 1900)
The simple answer is that our soul will live forever in one state or another somewhere... where depends upon what you believe about Jesus.
I hope that helps you.
