Baptists/provision for the flesh

The Bible says to make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. If a person has a bad habit that he or she battles for a long time and follows the Bibles instruction and throws away all "provisions" of the bad habit (tobacco, chocolate, rock and roll C.D.'s or whatever) and then time and time again, after throwing away a variable amount of dollars worth of provisions, goes (sooner or later) and purchases more provisions for the flesh at some cost, is it necessary to yet again throw away the remaining "provisions" or does a time come when it is wiser to simply put the remaining provisions "out of sight - out of mind" in order to save money when experience shows that it is quiet possible that provisions will yet again be purchased at some cost? Thank you.

Thank you for your question.   A famous preach once said, " It is never right to do wrong to do right."   If what you are doing is sin, the the cost of the sin should be a deterrant against continuing in that sin.   I have an article at with addresses dealing with sin in a professing Christian's life.

God says the wages of sin is death.   All sin, small or great, caused the Lord Jesus suffering on the cross.   To ignore that truth is the same as making little of sin and Christ's suffering.   1 Corinthians 11:29-32 explains that God chastens those who blatantly sin without regard for the Lord's suffering.   God caused some to be sin and others He has taken their life, who refused to repent.

If we sin and honestly try to get overcome the sin 1 John 1:8-10 says God will help us.  However, we are never to give up and should repent and turn from out sin.   The reason most people fail is that they enjoy and love their sins, more than they love the Lord who suffered and died for one's salvation.

Read James 1.   Sin can be overcome, although it may be difficult, but if we are truly trusting the Lord and living by faith we can be victorious through Him.
I hope this helps.  Further questions or comments please write.
