Question
Could you please explain the difference between a Missionary Baptist and a Baptist church.  I have attened both and the services are pretty much the same.  What is the difference?

Thanks

Answer
Tracy,

The biggest difference is the way that Souther Baptists do our missions programs. The majority of New Testament churches have missionaries visit several churches and gather funds by them doing the leg work and raising their own funds. The Southern Baptists have what we call the cooperative program which means that all 48,000+ churches pay into a central fund which funds worldwide missions and also American missions projects and the actual missionaries go on the mission and don't come back to have to raise their own capitol. This is the main difference you will find between the Souther Baptist and any other baptist church. I hope this helps and for further clarity I would suggest the SBC website. www.sbc.net.

God Bless
